I've played this several hundred times it seems like (maybe just a hundred times). At least I am getting my Mage Commander up... now 40. Everything else is max.

I can play perfect until the golems come down.

Also, I can (just about) beat the golems if I concentrate on building for that. They get through with less than 5% of health. (But when I do that, lots of dragons get through).

I do two lvl 5 mages to wear down the golems next to lvl 5 warriors. I wonder if getting to Mage Commander 50 would get it over the top.

Any thoughts or advice besides continuing to grind to Mage Commander 50?

I have: a mace with +12 archer attack, a necklace with +12 archer attach, and a ring with poison archer attack.

(The headpiece and armor are +22 to all commander and +8 to all commander respectively.)

I updated my sig to show my complete General outfit. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I troll the store regularly, but of course I don't know what I'm missing if I haven't seen it yet :-)

Also, I have some other items such as another +12 archer ATK ring. (but it doesn't have poison). Let me know if you suggest anything else or how you defeated it! (maybe I should just try more strategies)?

You should be able to beat this easily. Try the following....

X X A3 X
X X A2 X X General
X A1 X X X

Imagine this is the 3 middle rows, X's are empty slots.

Build an archer at A1 to level 3
Then an archer at A2 to level 3
Then an archer at A3 to level 3
Continue upgrading the archer at A2 to a level 5 Ranger
Upgrade the A1 archer to a level 4 Ranger

My relevant General stats are:
Bowmen 85
Combat 22
Cunning 50
404 attack
171 armor

I also have a Ranger +15 attack ring, but it can be done without that (ridiculously easy with it on though....don't even need the second ranger, the middle L5 one does it all with the other 2 L3 archers)

Thanks! This didn't work for me at all. I tried throwing in variations like an extra infantryman where they would initially get through, etc. I think the biggest issue is that my lvl 5 archers and even lvl 5 rangers don't even seem to scratch some of them like the last two golems coming down from the top and even some of the other random baddies with high armor.

I have bowman 80, but much higher hero ATK and armor. What modifications does your Hero's weapon give? Anything to Archer or Ranger?

For your extra 5 bowman commander, I assume you have a +25 bowman crown and a +10 bowman breastplate? I wouldn't think that extra five would make a huge difference, but maybe.

In any case, I'll definitely keep an eye out for a + ranger ATK ring. Before your suggestion I might have ignored it -- looking only for Archer items.

Thanks again for the constructive response! I feel there is hope :-)

To beat breewich use 2 wariors level 3, 5 archers 2 must be level 4 or 5, and around 7 level 4-5 mages.

I have two +78 artifacts.. but they didn't seem to help as much as the archer poison and archer plus +15 ATK.

you gona need +60 mage attack artifacts.

I just realised that my strategy is for Heroic but I'm fairly certain you must be on legendary. My bad.

Now if I can only pass bloody Tarnwood I'll be having a crack at the legendary maps too Smiley

I did this with 0 points in mage but with a really high combat.  Basically I was having trouble with the red ogres and not with the golems.  To handle the golems all you need is 2 level 5 mages and 2 level 4 mages.  With your mage command you might only need 1 +60 mage attack rating to pull it off. 

The level 5 mages are placed 1 on each of the 2 rows above the General.  Right at the zigzag that the Golems descend this maximizes the number of shots you get in before they reach the General's level. 

The 2 level 4 mages are placed at the flags to the left of the General.   

The other guilds I build are all archers and mages.  But I only level these 4 mage guilds, all the other mage guilds are level 1.

Since slime is not your issue you don't need any advice from me on archer placement.

I ended up finishing this substituting a +12 Archer ATK ring with a +24 Ranger ATK ring... while I was trying different strategies, I still couldn't get close with just the +12 Archer ATK ring, the +24 Ranger ATK ring really helped.

I would first build two level 3 archers and one lvl 1 up one level (with poison) closer to the general than Lazarus7 recommended (otherwise the first toughies would get through). Then I needed a couple lvl 3 warriors to keep the first level with some real toughies from getting though. Then I would continue to upgrade my middle archer all the way up to a lvl5 ranger - that +24 ATK for Ranger *really* helps.

Then I have enough cash for 4lvl4 golems coming down from the top - no problem. Also a lvl2 or lvl3 Mage or two at the bottom helps with that last Dragon wave.

Now going to attempt Silverkeep in earnest! I can't seem to get any better items at the store despite hundreds of tries, and when I play it I often lose or win by only a couple or 1 point left, so I'll be looking for advise from walkthroughs.

by the way, my general is fully upgraded now, so experience won't help anymore... either have to get better items or try different items or just work on strategy!
